This unique and innovative design is not one without its construction challenges. A design typically built throughout the Southwest region of the United States where the climate differs greatly from the Pittsburgh area, modifications were required to maintain the integrity of the design and keep up the priority of energy efficient construction.

Utilizing a blend of tapered wood columns, stone accents, colorful siding and a soft colored brick produced a warm and natural appearance that merged perfectly with the local countryside surroundings. Symmetrical rear window walls were installed in a shaded strategic orientation to offer expansive views from the hilltop western Pennsylvania location and provided comfort, strength and durability.

A mountainous homesite, over eight acres, offered privacy and seclusion and afforded the opportunity to incorporate several distinctive features. Upper and lower level garages were included to provide for the families daily needs as well as recreation needs. This home brims with special and awe-inspiring touches. From the breathtaking foyer staircase to the rear three story looping stairwell, glimpses of time honored craftsmanship can be found.

The slate lined center corridor trimmed with wood casing steers the way to the many formal and informal family centers of the main living area. A two story gathering room highlighted by a floor to ceiling stone fireplace and magnificent window wall is the main focal point. An elegant and spacious state of the art kitchen with an informal family dining area overlooks the outside recreation center through a magnificent window wall. Custom designed candle lighting beautifies a formal dining room while built in bookcases highlight the private den.

Each of the upper four bedrooms have their own private baths, however special attention was given to the Master retreat. Huge by any standards, the two story bedroom features cathedral ceilings, wood beams and a spa like bath that includes an all glass shower with multiple sprays, oversized whirlpool tub, separate vanities and a central resting area.

The lower level is a family entertainment dream come true. A private movie theater room with high tech surround sound systems adjoins an open seating area that includes a refrigerated wine room and adjacent wine tasting area.

The overall basic features included 5 bedrooms, 6 baths and two powder rooms, upper loft and separate play room above the garage, upper and lower laundry’s, den, gathering room, kitchen and informal dining area and a six stall garage (4 upper and 2 lower).
